The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
Speyside's Tomintoul distillery is, by Scotch whisky standards, a young distillery built in the 1960's. Typically Tomintoul produces a smooth, malty and sweet style of spirit.
This single cask release of Tomintoul spent much of its 15 years maturing in a single American Oak cask, prior to a finish in a single ex-Marsala cask.
Expect a delicious sweet stewed fruits with a touch of vinous influence on the nose. The palate has lovely sweet malt and fudge character, with oaky spices and hazelnuts. The finish has good (medium) mellow and smooth finish.
