Provenance marks the first series in Douglas Laing and Co's Exceptional Single Casks journey. For Provenance, DLC bottle extraordinary Single Cask Single Malts from a vast range of Scotland’s Whisky Distilleries. Each bottling is offered to you “as natural as it gets” – at 46% alcohol strength or higher, and without colouring or chill-filtration. Casks tend to be refill which helps to highlight each distilleries unique character.

Teaninich distillery is found in the Highland whisky region, and is respected for producing delicate and balanced malts with light herbal esters. Teaninich has a unique (to the Scotland) mashing technique whereby malted barley is ground into a fine flour with no husk prior to fermentation. This enables higher spirit yield, and the use of barley varieties that other distilleries can't use.

This malt was distilled in October 2012 and matured for 8 years in a single refill hogshead  before bottling in March 2021.

From the bottler: "Nose: Immediately the nose unlocks pear drops with apple peel and sweet honey'd oat biscuits. Palate: Green fruits moving to an assortment of fruit glazes with a backdrop of fresh new oak. Finish: Medium-long with runny caramel, sweet Malt and a buttery home baking quality" (CGL).
