Pintail Linkwood 14 Year Old, Manzanilla Finished, Scotch Whisky
The Pintail Linkwood 14 Year Old Manzanilla cask finished scotch whisky was distilled in 2008, spending 13 years in a refill cask before a finish in an ex-Manzanilla sherry cask from Spain's southern coast. Expect salted and spiced almonds, apple peel, ripe yellow stone fruits and a touch of baked brioche.
The Pintail brand was originally established by Matthew Gloag and Sons in the 1930's for bottling their dry sherries. After the trademark was allowed to lapse it was picked up by Keith Bonnington (Keeper of the Quaich and owner of The Whisky Cellars Independent Bottlers) to create a range of spirits and wines. With a focus on unusual bottlings, and whiskies finished in rare (and often sweet) wine casks, the Pintail range is built around a focus on extremely limited and desirable bottlings.
"Purveyors of Precious Wines & Spirits" is the tagline, with a focus on "precious"!
