This bottling of Douglas Laing's Old Particular Macduff 15 Year Old Scotch Whisky was distilled in August 2008 and matured for 15 years in a single refill hogshead before bottling in August 2023. Macduff distillery is a modern distillery built in 1960 with the post-war demand boom for Scotch Whisky. Since 1995, Macduff Distillery has been owned by the Bacardi beverage business, with spirit from Macduff used in the Dewars blends.
Douglas Laing's Old Particular range of Scotch Whiskies are a particularly unique series of individually hand-selected, aged Single Cask Single Malts and Single Grains from all over Scotland. Each is bottled exactly the way the Distiller intended: without colouring or chill-filtration, and at high alcohol strength. This combination allows the cask to retain the naturally present oils, fats and enzymes in the spirit that enhance the quality of the nose, the mouthfeel and flavour profile of the Whisky. Keeping the spirit “as natural as it gets” allows you to experience the Whisky straight from the cask, transporting you to a dark, damp Distillery warehouse with every sip.
Notes from the bottler: "Nose: Sweetly gristy, even at a distance, with a caramel chocolate and spiced backdrop. Palate: Big round and full of texture and praline, plus later honey. Malt and molasses. Finish: Unctuously offering barley, dry roasted nuts, warming treacle toffee and spices .". FHL
