Croftengea "Apple Smoke" Calvados Finish Scotch Whisky by The Cooper's Choice

The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.

A single cask release of Croftengea single malt scotch whisky. Croftengea being the name given to the highest peat level malt whisky produced at the Loch Lomond distillery on their copper pot stills. After an initial maturation in an American Oak cask this single cask release was finished in an ex-Calvados apple brandy cask, adding a bright apple fruit quality. 

Nose: Earthy peat smoke with baked apple skins. Farmyard aromas and ripe fruits

Palate: Old leather and sweet smoke with aged cider apples. A good punch of peat with sweet malted barley and fruity spices.

Finish: Peat ashes and more fruity spice. Long and warming

The single cask (#454) produced only 312 bottles, with the Australian allocation being 24 bottles.
