The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.

Kilnaughton is an internal name the Vintage Malt Whisky Company gives to a particular Islay distillery they work with. The distillery itself is a very closely guarded secret, however the whisky itself can be a give away. 

This single cask release was matured in an ex-Rioja wine cask. The outturn was only 318 bottles at a natural cask strength of 53.5% ABV with no-chill filtration or colour additions. 

The nose is intense and peaty, with black cherries and dried figs. The palate is oily with ashy peat character, old leather and juicy sweet prunes. The finish is very long with lingering peat.
