A relative new-comer (and hidden gem) in the single malt Scotch Whisky scene is Ardnamurchan distillery. Founded by Adelphi Selection (Independent Bottlers) in 2014 on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, the most westerly peninsula on the British mainland; the distillery produces both peated and unpeated styles. Impressively, Ardnamurchan distillery convincingly markets itself as the 'greenest' distillery in Scotland. 

The AD/ Cask Strength Release 2023 is from roughly 87% peated spirit, matured in roughly 90% ex-bourbon casks and 10% ex-sherry. 

Tasting Notes

Nose: Coastal peat smoke, vanilla and tangy and bright citrus zest.

Palate: Maritime peat, ripe orchard fruit, warm oak and a gentle, warm black pepper spice.

Finish: Lingering peat with a subtle seaweed salinity.
