Provenance marks the first series in Douglas Laing and Co's Exceptional Single Casks journey. For Provenance, DLC bottle extraordinary Single Cask Single Malts from a vast range of Scotland’s Whisky Distilleries. Each bottling is offered to you “as natural as it gets” – at 46% alcohol strength or higher, and without colouring or chill-filtration. Casks tend to be refill which helps to highlight each distilleries unique character.
Fruit is at the heart of the Benriach character, manifesting itself as pears and peaches with a lifted aromatic estuary top note. Vibrant when young, it matures well – especially in refill casks (such as this one) where fruits take on a more tropical edge and extra spiciness steadily develops.
This malt was distilled in 2008 and bottled 10 years latter after maturing for 10 years and 11 months in a refill hogshead.
From the bottler: "A spicy warmth develops to banana, caramelised nuts and lemon rind. Long with toasted barley, apricots, sawdust and heather honey." CSL
700ml. 46% VOL. From a single cask of only 384 bottles.
