Pintail Teaninich 15 Year Old Muscat de Rivesaltes Cask Finished Scotch Whisky
The Pintail Teaninich 15 Year Old Muscat de Rivesaltes cask finished scotch whisky is a single cask bottling from Keith Bonnington (Keeper of the Quaich) bottled with out chill filtration at natural cask strength. Muscat de Rivesaltes is a fortified wine from the Southern French wine region of Roussillon, that has proudly had AIC status since 1956. Produced from both Muscat d'Alexandria and Muscat a Petit Grains grapes, the wines are aged in small oak barrels. The small casks have limited the out-turn of this release to only 176 bottles, and have imparted a perfectly balanced sweet-yellow fruist character to the fresh and slightly botanical Teaninich distillate.
The Pintail brand was originally established by Matthew Gloag and Sons in the 1930's for bottling their dry sherries. After the trademark was allowed to lapse it was picked up by Keith Bonnington (Keeper of the Quaich and owner of The Whisky Cellars Independent Bottlers) to create a range of spirits and wines. With a focus on unusual bottlings, and whiskies finished in rare (and often sweet) wine casks, the Pintail range is built around a focus on extremely limited and desirable bottlings.
"Purveyors of Precious Wines & Spirits" is the tagline, with a focus on "precious"!
