Strathclyde 22 Year Old 1998 Whisky Cellar Scotch Whisky
The Whisky Cellar is an Edinburgh-based independent Scotch Whisky bottler, selecting casks from its private stock at the peak of their character. Founded by Keeper of the Quaich, Keith Bonnington, Keith searches far and wide for casks showing exceptional complexity of flavour and length on the palate.
“Unconstrained by age or statement of vintage, regionality or cask type…if our tasting panel love the whisky enough, we will bottle it.” - Keith Bonnington, Founder.
This 22 year old bottling from the Lowland Strathclyde grain distillery was distilled in October 1998, matured in a cask before a finish in an ex-oloroso Sherry cask (#129501) before bottling in August 2021 by The Whisky Cellars in their series 3 releases for the Private Cellars Selection.
Expect a nose of polished oak, caramel shortbread and ripe red forest fruits. The palate is bright for it's age with redcurrant jam, spearmint toffees, lychees and salted caramel. The finish is a very long and lingering with a touch of spice and red fruits.
Bottled at Cask Strength with no chill filtration. Only 253 bottles produced from the cask.
700ml. 55.2% ABV.
