Inchgower distillery is found in the Speyside whisky region, and while relatively unknown among general whisky drinkers, the geeks walking among us know the important part Inchgower whisky plays in the large Diageo blends.

Inchgower is a heavy spirit, due primarily from the very wide cut the distillers take. The nutty and waxy newmake spirit makes it a perfect partner for long cask maturation, and stands out exceptionally well in an ex-sherry cask, such as this gem which spent 25 years in a single ex-sherry butt, bottled by Douglas Laing and co.

Notes from the bottler: "Nose: Sweet and barley-rich initially, then comes tangerines, brown sugar and a damp oak style. Palate: Lots of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) running to vanilla essence and stewed fruits. Finish: Long – detect golden syrup, a slight floral character, milk chocolate and barley." .

This bottling of Inchgower 25 year old Scotch Whisky was distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2020. The cask outturn was 242 bottles, and is bottled at 51.5% ABV.
