Glen Elgin 11 Year Old 2010 The Cooper's Choice Scotch Whisky
The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
Here at SSW we are fans of malts finished in Sauternes cask, and this is a great example why. This 11 year old Glen Elgin was distilled in 2010 before maturation in a single American Oak cask prior to a finish in an ex-Sauternes cask. The cask produced only 312 bottles at a natural cask strength of 56% ABV, bottled without chill-filtration or colour additions.
Expect bright apricot and peach notes that highlight the sweet honeyed malt. Vanilla and gentle spice notes add great depth of flavours. The finish is long with building spice notes.
700ml. 56% ABV.
