Bunnahabhain 17 Year Old 2004 Moine for Select Scotch Whisky, Elysian Whisky Bar & Ralph Louis Frederick

This bottling of a Bunnahabhain 17 year old single cask Islay Scotch Whisky was distilled at the Islay Bunnahabhain Distillery in 2004 before spending over 17 years in a single ex-sherry butt. The cask (#3714) produced 240 bottles bottles of malt at a natural cask strength of 58.3% ABV.

The Carn Mor Celebration of the Cask range of Single Cask Whisky from the family-owned independent bottlers, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, are a very limited range from distilleries all over Scotland. All the bottles are numbered and once they are gone they cannot be replaced as they are from one-off bottlings from a single cask. The Carn Mor Celebration of the Cask Scotch Whiskies are bottled at cask strength with no colour additions and are all non-chill filtered.

This special cask was selected in collaboration by Select Scotch Whisky, Elysian Whisky Bar and Ralph Louis Frederick (yet-to-be opened whisky bar above Hains & Co in Adelaide) as an Australian Exlusive.

Tasting note on the Carn Mor Bunnahabhain 17 year old 2004 Australian exclusive:
Nose: Stewed fruits, raisins and oranges with a gentle blend of tabacco and smoke bacon peat.

Palate: Good sweet malty intensity, balanced with drying peat. Lively with the high ABV. The fireside peat (more like Highland than Islay) interplays with the sherry richness really well. Raisins and orange peel.

Finish: Peat and fruit fighting for dominance. The fruit seems to win for me, in this very long battle!

58.3% ABV 700ml
