Little needs to be said about Laphroaig distillery on Islay as few have such die-hard loyal followers. The whisky produced at Laphroaig shows a particularly iodine-y style of phenolic peat smoke character that epitomises Islay itself.

This Douglas Laing Old Particular Laphroaig Whisky was distilled in April 2012 and matured for 12 years in a refill barrel before bottling in June 2024.

Notes from the bottler: "Nose: Oceanic, with a beachy, seaweed-y backdrop plus wood preserve and burnt driftwood. Palate: Shows early sweet summer tar, with gentle pepperiness, amongst a peated barley style. Finish: Attractively ashy and phenolic, with chimney soot, burnt sugar and coaldust" FHL.
