The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
Not too often released as single malts, most Royal Brackla whisky goes towards large blends (such as Dewars). Certainly, Indies, such as the Vintage Malt Whisky Company do get their hands on single casks of Royal Brackla from time to time, and they can be incredibly fascinating casks...such as this one.
This single cask release of Royal Brackla spent much of its 7 years maturing in a single American Oak cask, prior to a finish in a single Madeira cask.
Expect a an aromatic spicy nose with light sherry notes. The palate had lovely caramel notes with honest malt and cereal characters, spices and madeira cake. Dried fruits develop on the finish.
700mL, 55% VOL. From a cask of only 324 bottles.
Bottled without Chill-filtration or colour additions, and at natural cask-strength.
