Tomatin 2013 8 year old Coopers Choice Scotch Whisky
The Cooper's Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland's finest distilleries are releases from the Family owned Independent Bottlers; The Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range is a homage to the passion and skill of the Coopers, the craftsmen, who build the barrels for maturation of Scotch Whisky. The range focuses on the impact of maturation in oak, and includes several obscure and rare wood finishes.
In the Highland region, not too far south of Inverness is the Japanese owned Tomatin distillery. The often intense, high-toned and fruity spirit of Tomatin suits itself well to first fill maturation or a finish in an active wine cask, such as this 8 year old finished in an ex-Port wood cask.
This single cask bottling of Tomatin was distilled in 2013, matured in American oak before a finish in an ex-Port wood cask and bottled in 2022. Expect a full-bodied malt with a feisty and fiery character. Red fruits sit alongside butter oak with pipe tobacco in the back. Black cherries and spice with a touch of highland toffee.
700mL. 57% VOL. From a single cask of only 340 bottles.
