Caol Ila 8 Year Old Douglas Laing Provenance Scotch Whisky
Provenance marks the first series in Douglas Laing and Co's Exceptional Single Casks Scotch Whisky journey. For Provenance, DLC bottle extraordinary Single Cask Single Malts from a vast range of Scotland’s Whisky Distilleries. Each bottling is offered to you “as natural as it gets” – at 46% alcohol strength or higher, and without colouring or chill-filtration. Casks tend to be refill which helps to highlight each distilleries unique spirit character.
This 8 Year Old Caol Ila Scotch Whisky was distilled in October 2012 and bottled in MArch 2021.
As you would expect from this Islay institution, this Caol Ila 8 year old Scotch Whisky has plenty of peat smoke! Despite it's age, and more impressively because of it, this Caol Ila is precise and perfectly balanced. The coastal influence is pronounced and only increases the enjoyment.
Tasting note from the bottler:
Nose: "A phenomenal tarry/oily style running to dried seaweed, black pepper and bonfire smoke."
Palate: "Thick and oily...streaky bacon on buttered burnt toast with peated barley and a sea-salt tang."
Finish: "On and on and on...more of that seaweed style, damp earth with kiln dried wood. (CSL)"
No chill filtering or colour added. 700ml 46% ABV
